Anti-Candle

The object in question, this “Anti-Candle” takes on many modes based on the way the viewer encounters it. Be it in-person where the shadows cast are organic and fickle, flitting back and forth at the hint of a breeze or through a display such as in “Spark” where the shadows and light are digitized and the geometry of the device reproducing it is in full view. In either case, the object becomes its own shadow; quite literally nothing about the candle we observe retains any of its ostensibly practical purpose. It is not lit, yet it certainly gives the impression of candle as it casts a shadow, but even this distorts and is manipulated. Perception is only as precise as the fledgling flame wishes it to be.
