Artist Statement

From the playwright, the notion that the light is abundant with color and that Neverland is always dusk or dawn. Out of this sprung a sense of chromatic aberrance, motes of light floating about, strong directionality, and vivid textures to make this manifest.

This production specifically is interested in the idea that the practical making of theatre is itself magical. Elements like Tinkerbell and other fairies flying about as beams and balls of light, Peter’s Shadow as a morphing and spritely projected image, and this overarching sense of suspended time of day in the light, with the colors refracting in the air, should feel tangibly of the stage and we should revel in the spectrum of ways these can be presented.
